Best Route Planners in Australia (2026): Deliveries, Road Trips and Trucks

The best route planner in Australia depends on the job. For a road trip, a trip planner such as Google Maps, NRMA Trip Planner or Routemapped fits. For heavy vehicles, the NHVR Route Planner is the official tool. For delivery drivers and couriers with many stops, you want a route optimizer, such as MiliRoute, RouteMate, Geo2, MyWay, Spoke, MyRouteOnline, Routific, OptimoRoute or Route4Me. This guide compares them using each company's own published information, checked in October 2026.

We make MiliRoute, so read our entry as a vendor's view and check the details that matter to you. Every other tool below is described from its own website.

How we compared

  • Sources: each tool's own pricing or product page. Prices for MiliRoute, Geo2, MyWay, MyRouteOnline, Route4Me and the road-trip and heavy-vehicle tools were checked on 4 October 2026, and RouteMate's on 24 October 2026, after it changed its plans. Routific, OptimoRoute and Spoke were checked between 1 and 3 October 2026, for our Routific and OptimoRoute comparisons and our Spoke (Circuit) comparison. For couriers outside Australia, see our global guide to route planner apps for delivery drivers.
  • Currency: many pages show a "$" without naming the currency. We say so where that is the case, so confirm the price for Australia before you buy.
  • Not tested: we did not run these products for this guide. We report what each company states.
  • Where a page does not say something, we write "not stated".

Road trips and holidays

If you are driving for a holiday, you want itineraries, places to stay and realistic drive times, not an optimized order of 60 parcels.

  • Google Maps. Good for everyday point-to-point driving. Google's help page says that on desktop you can add up to 9 stops, including the final destination.
  • Routemapped. Builds day-by-day road trip itineraries with drive times, overnight bases and editable routes. Its site says planning is free, with up to 2 itineraries a day, and a one-time "Full trip tune-up" option at $3.99.
  • NRMA Trip Planner. Helps you build itineraries and find stays, attractions and places to eat on an interactive map, with filters for fuel and EV charging.
  • WikiCamps. A camping and caravan app for Australia, with offline maps. Its site lists a one-time purchase of $9.99 AUD per platform and no subscription.

Heavy vehicles and freight

  • NHVR Route Planner. The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator's interactive map of approved heavy vehicle routes, covering B-doubles, B-triples, higher mass limit and performance-based standards vehicles, and road trains. The NHVR says the networks shown are indicative only and should be confirmed with the relevant state road authority.

MiliRoute

MiliRoute puts a driver's stops in the quickest order on estimated driving times from Google's road-routing data, and it is exact for up to 13 stops between the start and the finish. It runs on Android and the web, with an iPhone app on the way, and is priced in Australian dollars. Drivers can scan addresses with the phone camera, mark stops delivered or failed, capture proof of delivery and see analytics on each route, in 11 languages. It plans one route per driver. See how it fits Australian delivery fleets.

RouteMate

An Australian-built planner with web, iOS and Android apps. Its pricing table (checked 24 October 2026) lists a free Starter plan of 5 stops per route and 5 routes a month (the FAQ on the same page mentions a higher limit, so check before you rely on it), Solo AI at $19.99 a month with 150 stops per route and 300 label scans, Pro Driver at $29.99, and a Team plan at $49 a month that adds proof of delivery and live tracking for fleets.

Geo2

A route planner for solo delivery drivers on iPhone, Android and the web. Its free plan covers up to 15 orders per route, with proof of delivery and ads. The Pro plan lists $8.99 per user per month for unlimited orders and no ads.

MyWay Route Planner

Lists a free plan of up to 15 stops per route with unlimited routes, a Pro plan at $9.99 a month for up to 200 stops, and an Expert plan at $79.99 a year. The page says prices vary by country and that some countries have fewer free stops for business users, and mentions a 7-day trial for paid plans.

Spoke (formerly Circuit)

Spoke Route Planner is for individual drivers: free up to 10 stops, then US$9.99 or US$19.99 a month for unlimited stops. Spoke Dispatch is for teams, from US$125 a month with live tracking, proof of delivery and notifications. See our MiliRoute vs Circuit (Spoke) comparison.

MyRouteOnline

A web route planner with an iOS and Android app. It prices by address credits instead of per driver (for example $19 a month for 50, $49 for 500, $99 for 1,200), says all plans include all features, and can handle 1,000 stops with unlimited drivers.

Routific and OptimoRoute

Both are dispatch-style platforms for teams: a planner splits orders across drivers, with live tracking and more constraints than a driver-side app. Routific prices per order and OptimoRoute per driver. See MiliRoute vs Routific and MiliRoute vs OptimoRoute.

Route4Me

Lists three monthly plans at $199, $299 and $349 for larger operations, with the higher tiers adding multi-driver and multi-facility optimization and enterprise services. Its pricing page does not state stops per route or drivers.

How to choose

  • A few stops and a phone: Google Maps handles up to 9 stops on desktop. Beyond that, use a route optimizer with a free tier.
  • Most free stops: by their own pages, Geo2 and MyWay offer 15 per route, MiliRoute and Spoke 10, and RouteMate's pricing table 5.
  • One driver, flat price in Australian dollars: MiliRoute lists its prices in AUD; most others show US dollars or an unnamed "$".
  • A dispatcher splitting orders across drivers: look at Routific, OptimoRoute, Spoke Dispatch or RouteMate's paid plan.
  • Large lists from a spreadsheet on a desktop: MyRouteOnline lists imports and up to 1,000 stops.
  • Trucks: start with the NHVR Route Planner for approved routes.

Whatever you pick, test it on one real day of your own stops, with the same start and finish, and compare the total driving time. Our guide to AI route optimization software explains what to check, and our free calculators for delivery drivers help you work out your cost per drop.

Try MiliRoute on your own stops: create a free account. Routes of up to 10 stops are free, with no credit card.
